Trouble comes in the form of the villainous Toad - who royally despises all rodents. The Toad dispatches his two hapless hench-rats, Spike and Whitey, to get the job done. When they fail, the Toad has no choice but to send to France for his cousin, Le Frog, the dreaded mercenary

They soon cross paths with scientist Charles Darwin, who persuades the Captain that the crew's 'parrot,' Polly, could be the answer to the riches they are searching for

Suddenly, a huge, mysterious, veg-ravaging "beast" begins attacking the town's vegetable plots at night, and the competition hostess, Lady Companula Tottington, commissions Anti-Pesto to catch it and save the day
