- Chronicles Norma Miller's early life and rise to fame as one of the original performers of the Lindy Hop, an acrobatic style of swing dance named for aviator Charles Lindbergh's solo flight, or "hop, " across the Atlantic. It was the Jazz Age and the Harlem Renaissance, and Norma lived behind New York City's famed Savoy Ballroom, the only dance hall in a still-segregated America where blacks and whites could dance and mingle together
